Cats Curse Our Drinking Devices
Having cats, we know they tend to be big tippers, right? It takes us humans a while to figure things out sometimes, but after a few liquid catastrophes, we know something has to happen. We're not about to stop drinking liquids, so instead we decide it might be a smart idea to use a cup or a bottle with a lid. Cats curse our lidded drinking devices, not only because they can no longer dip a paw inside or tip them over, but because they know we won that one.

Doors and the Ultimate Power Play
Why can't cats just choose a side of the door? They meow to go on one side of it and then stand in the very spot that prevents us from closing the door. I don't think they care about what's on the other side of the door -- it's just another power play to show us who's really in charge.

"The World is My Bed!"
"I'm tired. Let me lie on the bumpy surface of a case of water bottles, even though my cushy bed is a few feet away."

Discomfort is the New Comfort
Hello Catladyland readers! I am out of town for about a week and by now, my cats have certainly assumed I've abandoned them. I love those little drama queens.
For the long weekend, I'm going to take a break from coming up with new stuff and post some Cat Truths from days of yore. How's that? Maybe you didn't see them the first time, anyway. Even if they are old news to you, there's nothing you can do about it, so sit back and read them again! Thank you and have an enjoyable weekend.

Cutest Cat Pic Ever? Not.
This happens to me all the time. I see the cuteness happen and (miracle) I have a camera at the ready. I aim to capture the cuteness -- and am pretty confident I did -- and then I see a blurry mess. Sigh. I'm pretty sure it's the cat's fault.

A Surefire Way to Make Me Pee
This happens to me all the time. As soon as the biscuits are made, the purring has ceased and the kitty has settled happily into my lap, my bladder decides it's ready to pop. Why does my bladder hate me so much? I think it's still mad about the two humans that sat on top of it for nine months each. I guess I'd be pretty irritated too.

Cat Truth #117: Cats Don't Hide Their Feelings
Cats are a little (a lot) egocentric and seem to think anything and everything must be for them. And when they learn they don't have ownership over something, they get miffed. Cats are not that great at hiding their feelings.

Can You Solve The Box Equation?
Two things bring cats out of a dead sleep: the sound of a can opener and the vibe of a new box in the house. They are powerless over the box ... and if there's stray packing tape hanging off one of sides, even better.
I have the math to prove it:
If a box is traveling into the house at 2 miles and hour and a cat is sleeping at 0 miles per hour, how long will it take for the cat to inhabit the box? (answer below)

A Tail of a "Sneaky" Cat and Cool News From Friends!
Cats think they're super-duper sneaky; however, some of their skills in this area leave a little to be desired. I think Phoebe needs to go back to Hiding 101.
And before I let you go, I have some exciting news to share with you! My friends Robbin and Joseph Everett's Pet Podcast Channel will celebrate their 100th episode today! Their Pets Teach Us So Much radio show is broadcast live every Thursday at 6:00 p.m. in the Eastern time zone.
It's funny, informative and a must-listen for pet lovers. I've been a guest on their show a couple of times and will tell you that it's impossible to frown when you're around Robbin and Joseph. If you like Catladyland, then you will totally get their crazy humor.

Cat Truth #49: Everything Is For Them
It's the truth, right? If you have it, it must be for them. Even if it's fixings for homemade salad dressing. Because everyone knows how much cats love vinegar. And salads.

Cat Truth #107: Cats Are Opportunists Looking for a Good Time
It's true, right? My Phoebe always has that "up to something" look on her face. And the look is usually a good indicator that she's indeed up to no good. She enjoys walking across my desk and systematically knocking my pens and paperclips on the floor. She's very smart and gets bored easily, so I make sure she has plenty of self-play puzzle-type games, which she loves. But, I'll tell ya ... she's definitely one to watch.

Cat Truth #601: Cats are Not Dogs
One of the reasons I think cats are funny is that they're totally unpredictable and unapologetic. Sometimes they do what we want them to do, and other times they flick their tails at us and saunter off to another room. If you want your cat to play with you when you want to play, get a dog.

Cat Truth #203: Why My Cats Think I Need a New Watch Battery
No matter what time I feed my cats, in their eyes I'm always late. Even though I'm not. It's always food o'clock and my watch is perpetually slow. I think I heard rumblings from them about wanting to buy me a new watch battery. Ha -- the joke's on them because I don't even wear a watch.

Cat Truth #93: Cats Don't Hide Feelings
Cats are masters of many things, but when it comes to their feelings, they wear them right on their fuzzy little sleeves. We received a new pet fountain yesterday (review and giveaway coming up -- YAY!), and Phoebe immediately claimed the box. As usual. Cosmo smelled around the new acquisition and Phoebe hissed at him. He proceeded to sulk away and envy the box from afar. His green eyes came in handy that day.

Cat Truth #200: Cats Love Weird Stuff
Phoebe would rather sit and watch the printer spit out paper than play with a brand new catnip toy. No lie.

Cat Truth #90: Cats Can Be Comfortable Most Anywhere
It's true, right? They do love a soft pile of warm laundry, but my cats are just as likely to rest their head on the edge of a cardboard box or sleep on top of a 24-pack of shrink-wrapped water bottles. I suppose if I were that tired all the time, comfort wouldn't be that big of a deal. Heck, I remember childhood sleepovers at friends' houses when I'd crash on top of a cheap Holly Hobbie sleeping bag on a hard floor.

Cat Truth #877: Cats Like to "Help."
Cats love to "help" us with projects. Anytime I pull out craft supplies, the sewing box, gift-wrapping gear or anything that looks remotely interesting, my three nosy cats are all over the scene. They study everything I do and walk over, swat at and sleep on top of my supplies. They must really think we are helpless. Or just simple-minded. Thank goodness for their able paws.

Cat Truth #312: Cats Inspect Boxes
Boxes are cat magnets and each one that passes through the front door must be sniffed corner-to-corner by each cat. They're like fuzzy little TSA agents, except I never find a TSA agent sleeping in my suitcase. That'd be weird.
