Cats and Personal-Space Bubbles ... Funny, Right?
Sometimes when I work at my kitchen table, I feel a strong presence infiltrating my personal-space bubble. Then I turn around and see the infiltrator with my own two eyes. I see the giant white whiskers that popped tiny holes in my bubble. Personal space means zilch to a cat. Personal-space bubbles are to be popped as easily as those blown through a wand on a warm spring day.
With cats, we live a bubble-less existence.

I Need a Cat-Bed Attachment
I bought this new bed for Cosmo yesterday, and he loves it ... as long as it's sitting flat up against me. I need some pants with a cat-bed attachment. Like something that'd connect to a belt loop. Now that's fashion-forward, right? I already have cat hair all over my pants, why not attach the whole cat?

Pillow Party: Cats Must Wear Tuxedos
And yet another chapter in the continuing saga of "The Case of the Shrinking Pillow" (see what I did there?). Last night I made it through an entire eight-hours with a full pillow all to myself. Can you imagine? I thought I was home free. Then I woke up to feed Cosmo and went right back to bed. When I awoke an hour later, my pillow had been inhabited by a large cat-loaf wearing a tuxedo. I didn't realize pillow parties were such fancy affairs! Tomorrow I'll wear a taffeta ball-gown to bed.

My Cat's Got Her Paws on My Work
Phoebe likes it when I write about her. To make sure she's top-of-mind, she sometimes weasels her way between me and my laptop. Then she turns on the oh-so-adorable kitty charm -- how could I resist? And I guess she wins, because guess who I'm writing about right this second?

Take the Purina Pet Pledge, and Win Awesome Prizes For Your Pet!
The New Year is underway, and many of us kicked off 2016 with fabulous resolutions about losing weight, saving money, and finally organizing that everything-falls-out-when-you-open-it closet. Tell the truth -- you have one of those, too.
This year, our friends at Purina want us to keep our four-legged family members in mind when we make these New Year's intentions, so they're encouraging pet parents to to make a Pet Pledge. There are no rules for the pledge. Maybe you want to spend more cuddle time with your kitty, or deck your home out with a super-cool cat tree. Whatever the case, pledge away!
![]() |
| "I pledge that you feed me extra meals." |
I find I'm more accountable to resolutions when I write them down somewhere or share them with others. You can do that on Purina's Pure Love for Pets site. It's easy-peasy.
Here's mine: I recently moved into a new place and the windows are pretty high -- too high for my kitties to enjoy the good ol' "Cat TV" like they had at my old house. My pledge is to find a cat tree with a season pass to "Cat TV." My kitties fully support this pledge. And they also asked me to add a P.S. pledge about providing extra meals. Um, no.
After you've made your Pet Pledge, don't go anywhere because you can play an instant win game for a chance to score some pretty awesome prizes.
- Cat Prize Box: Cat Furminator, Kitty Hammock, toys, and other cat-related accessories
- Cat Grand Prize: Deluxe Cat Tower (whaaaaat?!)
There are also dog prizes, for those with special canines in their lives. Woof. The instant win game runs now through February 17, 2016.
In addition to the Pet Pledge and instant win game, PureLoveForPets.com features suggestions for Pet Pledges, along with tips on how to keep them throughout the year. Unless you're one of those people who naturally keeps your resolutions all year long. In which case, you're probably telling big lies. Kidding. Maybe.
Oh, and be sure to look for Purina coupons in local Sunday papers. Who doesn't enjoy a good coupon?
There are so many ways for you and your pet to win with Purina Pet Pledge -- I've lost count! So get out there and make this year the best one ever for you and your beloved pets!
I was compensated to help spread the word about the Purina Pet Pledge. Catladyland only shares information we think would be of interest to our readers. The opinions are our own.

Naturally Occurring Cat Expressions
Cats can do smug, right? They don't even have to try -- it's one of their naturally occurring expressions.
Naturally occurring feline expressions include, but are not limited to:
- Smug (see photo)
- About-to-lose-my-damn-mind (usually relating to the sound of a shaken treat bag)
- Empty stare (also known as open-eyed meditation ... leave me alone)
- Focused stare (frequently happens for the hour leading up to meal time)
- Love the CRAP out of you, human (heart-melt alert)

My Cat Flips Me the Tongue
You know how cats like to look away as soon as we press the button to take a photo? Well, Phoebe not only did the whole annoyed, head-turn thing, she stuck her tongue out at me, too. She basically flipped me off with her tongue. As if cats need a new way to look annoyed, right?

A Cat's Thoughts Before the Laundry Basket
A cat's thought's moments before making the leap to a laundry basket:
I wonder if the towels are warm. It might not be worth my time to move if they're not warm because this loaf is pretty comfortable.
I can see myself burrowed under that top towel. Plus that color accentuates my features. I've always been a "spring."
What is that blue towel? Is that new? What happened to the yellow one? I liked that one. It had some interesting fray.
Have the other cats seen the basket? Time is of the essence. The loaf will wait. #first

My Cat's Pulled the Welcome Mat
Sometimes cats don't want to set out the welcome mat. Sometimes they want to pretend like they're not home, even though we clearly see they are indeed present. Cats think if they can't see us, we can't see them (Cat Logic 101). I play along because sometimes I don't want to entertain visitors either. Totally get it, Phoebe. Check ya later.
