The Craft of Biscuit-Making

After breakfast and dinner, Cosmo retires to the pink cat bed and proceeds to make some very serious biscuits. Last night Phoebe had already claimed the bed, so she got to be witness to his craft.

My Cat Makes Funny Sounds

I love it when I touch a sleeping Phoebe and she makes little squeaky noises. Does your cat do that too? I find it ridiculously adorable and totally humorous. My own little fuzzy squeak toy.

Somebody needs a squeaking, don't you think?

Sometimes I just can't stop squeaking her. Here's a little video I too -- the squeaks are very soft, hopefully can can hear them. There's a little speaker icon at the top left of the video. Make sure there's not an X on it -- if there is, just click it and you'll enable the sound. You see, I'm only telling you that because I left the X on and thought maybe the squeaks had never happened. Maybe I'd dreamed them.

Hold Everything and Bathe!

I love watching cats play. One of the things that makes me laugh the most is how they'll stop mid-play and just start cleaning themselves. Seriously, they could have bathed that exact part of their body minutes earlier, but something makes them stop and go at it again. What? Did you suddenly pick up some stray dust? Is your fur out of place? Cats are such little weirdos.

I threw a little fish toy at Phoebe this morning and she did just that. Little weirdo, indeed ... but a horribly cute one.

My Cats Love This Toy -- And It's So Simple and Inexpensive!

In previous posts I mentioned the generous and crowd-pleasing toys and goodies we received from sponsors at the Cat Writers' Association conference. One stood out as a particular favorite among my three cats: The Pioneer Pet Nip Nibblers.

It's crazy -- the toy is so incredibly simple. It's catnip stuffed inside lightweight material. This is what they look like:

Because the material is very breathable, the catnip scent really comes through the toy. And they are really inexpensive: $3.99 for three. Pioneer Pet didn't ask me to post any of this -- I was just so impressed with how much my cats enjoyed this toy and wanted to share. Sick of me posting about my friend's kitten, Miles? Too bad for you because here's an adorable Vine of him chasing his little tail. He does this ALL the time and I just can't stand it!!

Slug Isn't So Sluggy

I know I often talk about what a slug my Saffy girl is. And that's completely true -- she's a total couch potato who gets most of her exercise sneaking around corners to steal other cats' food. We try and play with her, and I've purchased interactive toys, but she's just naturally sluggish.

I did manage to catch her in a fairly playful mood the other day and wanted to document it. Mostly so I'd know for sure I didn't dream the whole thing.

My Cats = Terrible Game Show Contestants

Sometimes I like to play little games with my cats. I place a strange collection of objects on the floor and see which one they prefer. I always include a bag of treats, and you'd think they'd automatically go to the noms. Not always the case! Case in point: I placed a can of refried beans, some oatmeal and a bag of treats on the kitchen floor. At one point, Saffy is all about the beans, but no one ever tries to take down the treats!

Cat Gets New Box! Yay!

As usual, Phoebe was the first to nail the new incoming box. No matter that I just received something cool from the UPS truck. Do you think they asked me about my stuff? Nope. They're always like,  "You got us a box! Yay!" It's always about them, isn't it? They're total stinkers, but oh-so-cute.

Sneaky Cat Not So Sneaky

As I shared yesterday, Saffy is really the piggy in the family. She wolfs her own chow and then goes after everyone else's.

I did, however, bust one certain tuxie individual with his snout in Phoebe's food. This time Cosmo can't deny it. Thanks to the magical 6-seconds of auto-edited wonder that is Vine, I captured it all. And watch how he sulks away. So busted.

Saffy pretty much ignores me unless I hold the promise of food. And she shuns me from every angle.

If Joan Rivers Licked Her Own Butt, She'd Almost Be Just Like My Cat

Phoebe is a talker -- always has been. And when I have a "conversation" with that mouthy cat, she has to have the last word. She kind of never stops talking. She's sassy, too. If Joan Rivers licked her own butt, she'd be almost exactly like Phoebe.

And she's bossy. When she wants something, she totally whines and shouts at us until she gets it. She definitely wears the furry little pants in the family. Sorry for the Joan Rivers visual.

My Cats and I are Feeling Vine, Thank You Very Much

Have you seen the Vine video app available for download in the Apple store? I just started hearing about it and then last week at BlogPaws, my Catster buddies were totally swinging from the Vine so I thought I'd give it a try. Now I'm totally hooked!

Saffy gets ready for her premiere on Vine.

It's kind of like Instagram, in that you can follow other users and they can follow you. You create an account and then link it to Facebook and Twitter if you wish. To create a video, you simply press the screen with your finger and then let go when you are finished recording that particular clip. You can record as many clips as six seconds will allow. Then Vine edits them all together and plays them on a loop. It's pretty cool!
