Why I Don't Ask My Cats to Help Clean


This is one of my favorite Mainzer "Dressed Cats" postcards. I can imagine the shenanigans depicted in this image aren't too far off from what would happen if I enlisted my cats in helping me with housework. What's your favorite part of this scene? I like the vacuum-butt.

Proof My Cats Shouldn't Clean


Last week I wrote a Catster post wherein I wished my cats could help me with practical tasks, like cleaning up around the house. Then I was perusing some of my favorite Alfred Mainzer postcards this weekend and immediately changed my mind. I'm pretty sure the "cleaning" would be less helpful and look more like this:

Yeah -- my cats don't need access to cleaning supplies; however, they absolutely must have access to sweater vests.

Silly Vintage Cat Postcards: Ridiculously Wonderful


I love silly vintage postcards of cats dressed up and acting as humans. I think my favorite ones are by artist Alfred Mainzer because the details are so fantastically funny. Seriously...I could pore over one of these cards 20 times and find some funny new bit with each look.
