Naturally Occurring Cat Expressions

Cats can do smug, right? They don't even have to try -- it's one of their naturally occurring expressions.

Naturally occurring feline expressions include, but are not limited to:

  • Smug (see photo)
  • About-to-lose-my-damn-mind (usually relating to the sound of a shaken treat bag)
  • Empty stare (also known as open-eyed meditation ... leave me alone)
  • Focused stare (frequently happens for the hour leading up to meal time)
  • Love the CRAP out of you, human (heart-melt alert)

My Cat Flips Me the Tongue

You know how cats like to look away as soon as we press the button to take a photo? Well, Phoebe not only did the whole annoyed, head-turn thing, she stuck her tongue out at me, too. She basically flipped me off with her tongue. As if cats need a new way to look annoyed, right?

Win a Chairman Meow T-Shirt, Sticker, and Catnip!

Obey the kitty! We're all familiar with that command, and now you an wear the message on a Chairman Meow T-shirt. Catladyland and Chairman Meow are giving away one of their new T-Shirts (pictured below), in delightfully revolutionary army-green. In addition to the cool shirt, the winner will receive a Chairman Meow sticker and a bag of catnip.

For those of you who aren't familiar with Chairman Meow, he's the ever-victorious leader of the cultural Kitty Revolution. I'm quite certain your cats know exactly who he is. He posts his feline wisdom on You owe it to yourself to take a look. We humans need to be on top of this whole Feline Revolution thing if we hope to remain in good graces with the cats of the world. The kitties are just waiting for us to mess things up so they can take over. I know that sounds dramatic, but CATS!

You can show your support and be treated more favorably by cats, should the Revolution occur, by sporting a Chairman Meow shirt. Here's how you win one:

  • Giveaway runs from now through midnight Central, January 22, 2016.
  • Enter your name and email address in the Rafflecopter widget below.
  • Complete the Twitter portion of the widget if you'd like additional entries.
  • Open to all readers.

A Cat's Thoughts Before the Laundry Basket

A cat's thought's moments before making the leap to a laundry basket:

I wonder if the towels are warm. It might not be worth my time to move if they're not warm because this loaf is pretty comfortable.

I can see myself burrowed under that top towel. Plus that color accentuates my features. I've always been a "spring."

What is that blue towel? Is that new? What happened to the yellow one? I liked that one. It had some interesting fray.

Have the other cats seen the basket? Time is of the essence. The loaf will wait. #first

My Cat's Pulled the Welcome Mat

Sometimes cats don't want to set out the welcome mat. Sometimes they want to pretend like they're not home, even though we clearly see they are indeed present. Cats think if they can't see us, we can't see them (Cat Logic 101). I play along because sometimes I don't want to entertain visitors either. Totally get it, Phoebe. Check ya later.

My Cat's Wake-Up Face is Always Camera Ready

This is the look I get when I wake Cosmo so I can snap a cute pic of him.  I suppose I'd give the same look if someone woke me up with a camera in my face. He looks way cuter than I would, though. Cats are always camera-ready, aren't they? No fair!

Happy New Year from Cats ... and Boxes!

It's a brand new year and the cats of Catladyland are really getting their party on. Ain't no party like a box party ...

Catladyland opened its bloggy doors in January, 2009 -- I can hardly believe it's been seven years! There's never been a shortage of wacky -- and sometimes informative -- material from which to draw, and we've loved sharing every single laugh and thoughtful moment with you. So THANK YOU for visiting Catladyland, and we hope you'll continue to enjoy your mini-vacations to our silly little corner of the Web, where the litter boxes are always welcoming and the cats are usually snarky ... in the best possible way, of course.

Here's to another year of fun!
