The Rockette Kick That Came From Behind My Laptop
I was working from the sofa the other day and Cosmo was, as always, close-by. I knew he'd been sleeping on the other side of my laptop for some time, but I suddenly received a back-leg paw-wave from him as he detailed his bottom. It was so funny -- I went from seeing nothing, to seeing a cat leg kick straight up from behind the laptop. It was a total Rockette move.

#WeruvaPets : Cat Food Just Like Mom Would Make
I'm a visual person, and the look of a dish is really important to me. I think that's true for many of us -- when we see an appetizing-looking plate of food, our mouths immediately begin watering, right? Especially comfort food. My mom makes the best chicken casserole, and just the thought of the creamy gravy and tasty bites of chicken send me into a food-frenzy. And there are never enough leftovers! OK, let me stop talking about my food, and move on to what this post is about: cat food! But really, the two subjects have more in common than you might think.

Weruva's Paw Lickin' Chicken |
When I opened up the first can of Weruva food for my cats, my first thought was "homemade comfort food." I could look on the plate and see what was in the meal. Some of the chicken dishes even smelled like Mom's casserole. Mom, if you're reading this, that's a compliment.
Weruva canned food is grain-, GMO-, MSG- and carrageenan-free. Additionally, the chicken formulas are free of fish and the fish formulas are free of chicken. The meat cuts are lean and hand-placed into cans. Really, when you look at the chicken, it won't be hard to believe it comes from cage-free boneless, skinless, white-meat breasts (perfect for obligate carnivores). In fact, Weruva cat food is produced in a human-food facility, using many of the ingredients and processes that are used for human foods.
I guess it makes sense Phoebe, Cosmo and Saffy would go nuts for Weruva -- they're constantly interested in what's on my plate! And Weruva's lines are 80% moisture, but don't think that'll stop your cats from tipping over your water cup. Cats are made of awesome ... and curiosity.
Cosmo inhales most anything, but Phoebe is a picky eater. I was a little blown away to see how quickly she gobbled the Weruva. Although my cats enjoyed the sustainable fish flavors, they were particularly partial to the chicken-based ones. I think they must have stolen a few tastes of my mom's casserole and the cat food reminded them of it. They know what's good. I didn't taste-test any of the food, but don't think I didn't consider it. You don't believe me, do you?
Look how they Cosmo and Phoebe went to town on the Funky Chunky Chicken Soup!
I know this has nothing to do with the taste of the food (still think I tasted it, huh?), but the names of the flavors sound good enough to eat. I've definitely eaten my own words, and I'd probably eat these as well. Close your eyes and think of these flavors. Wait, open your eyes, read these flavors, then close your eyes and think about them. If I were there with you right now, I'd read them to you, but alas, you are not so lucky (and nor am I).
OK, now for some of the flavors: Grandma's Chicken Soup, Outback Grill, Asian Fusion, Polynesian BBQ, Mideast Feast. OK, now close your eyes and think. Hungry? I thought so. And your cat is probably hungry too, so stop reading for a moment and grab a treat for both you and kitty. Yes, Weruva makes treats too.
Back? Good. You're just in time to click over and follow Weruva on Facebook and Twitter!

My Cat is Jealous of BlogPaws, and I Don't Blame Him
Cosmo always knows when something's up. Seriously -- he can tell when I'm gearing up to head out of town. I leave for BlogPaws a week from Wednesday and I swear he can already sense my impending departure. I mean, look at that face.
And once the suitcase comes out, I'll be getting the serious stink-eye. Also, he'll try and stow away by climbing into my bag ... at least twice.
I can't say I blame him, though -- BlogPaws is the place to be for all things pet-blogger. Plus, he's seen my photos and knows other cats will be in attendance, so I'm sure there's some jealousy at play. Deep down inside he knows he wouldn't go anyway -- he barely tolerates the 10-minute car ride to the vet!
But hey, listen to this: The preliminary conference agenda is newly updated, and includes fabulous speakers and sessions. Here are some of the ones I don't want to miss:
- Be an Instagram Star (BTW, follow me on Instagram! One step closer to stardom!)
- SEO Advances Session/Workshop
- Top Legal Issues Every Blogger Faces
- Monetizing Ideas for Profit

There's something for everyone. What I really appreciate is the variety of sessions, including some designed especially for beginner or advanced bloggers. So even if you don't even have a blog, but are thinking of starting one, you'll walk away with a boatload of tips, inspiration and contacts to come back home and get going on creating a successful blog!
And there are some cool things happening in conjunction with the Nose-to-Nose awards, including the presentation of a canine police vest to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. BlogPaws will also donate oxygen pet-masks to the Henderson EMS. Nice!

You Know This Look
Oh, man -- this photo says it all. I think Phoebe was ready for me to put away the camera. The quality isn't fantastic, but I had to share. I'm sure most of you are familiar with this look!

Why My Cat Should Get a Bonus
I was not feeling well last week and, of course, my favorite fuzzy nurse was on the scene. Seriously, Cosmo followed me everywhere, and as soon as I got settled on the sofa, he jumped up and stared at me like he was saying, "Can I get you anything?" This cat should get get a bonus for all the double shifts he pulled.

Back-of-the-Sofa Hair-Sniffer
I love it when cats loaf up behind me on the sofa. Sometimes their presence surprises me -- like when I feel some mysterious hair-sniffing happening. Phoebe's kind of a hair-sniffer ... and an occasional hair-licker.

Sarcasm Plugged into Instagram = Art
Some days you just need to loaf-up and look thoughtful, mixed with a touch of crankiness. Cosmo's really great at that. I decided to plug this look into Instagram (follow me, if you don't already), which makes the crankiness look more soft and artsy, no? He looks like he should be wearing a beret and saying something bitingly sarcastic, but it would be in French, so it would sound beautiful.

Submitting to Admiration
Phoebe was being sneaky and hiding on the barstool underneath the breakfast bar. When I pulled the barstool out, she just looked at me like, "May I help you?" She was doing the little T-Rex-arm thing, so I had to admire her for a little while and, of course, take a photo. She just wanted me to slide her back under the breakfast bar. Sorry, Pheebs -- when you look like that, you must submit to all kind of admiration. Especially when you have the T-Rex-arms thing going on.

Cosmo Hit the Jackpot
Cats love shoes. Cats love sun. Cosmo found a two-fer this weekend with my husband's slipper in a sun-puddle. I don't know ... warm shoes might get a little stinky, don't you think? Cosmo's probably thinking, "All the better!" I suppose that's like pulling a 7-7-7 on a slot machine. Jackpot!

Cat and Bunny Snuggle? Well, Yeah!
This morning I happened across an adorable video that I thought would be perfect to share today. Some of you don't know that, aside from being a cat fancier, I'm also crazy about the bun-buns. I'd love to have one of my very own one day. And then I'm quite certain this would happen, and my life would be complete.
Happy Easter from Angie, Saffy, Cosmo, Saffy ... and Mittens and the gang!

Secret Meetings and Glorified Squares of Cardboard
I think I busted up a secret meeting yesterday. I walked into the kitchen to find Phoebe and Cosmo looking at each other, obviously engaged in some sort of clandestine activity. When they saw me, they pretended like they were never communicating. They are bad liars.
Also, I just want to point out how Phoebe claimed the box which barely has sides to it. It's more like a glorified square of cardboard. She doesn't care ... it's a box. Sort of.

My New Accountant Uses a Litter Box
I've hired an accountant. Her name is Phoebe and she takes lots of breaks. I figured since she likes to walk across keyboards, keypads, and buttons of any kind, she'd jump at the chance of having her very own calculator. Plus, no matter what she does, she'll probably be better at math than I am.
My name is Angie and I have a cat for an accountant.

Fanned Toes? I'm a Fan
I recently caught Cosmo sunning himself by a window. And then he did that thing that drives me absolutely crazy: He stretched his legs and fanned those little toes. And the fans stayed like that for quite a while. Of course I had to poke a finger between those toesies. I'm a huge fan of those fans. I love fans.

Dream Homes ... Made of Butter
Phoebe thought she was going to score some butter when my son snapped this pic. A good sniff was all she managed to grab. I think my cats would like a little house made out of butter. Hell, I think I would like a house made out of butter. A big one.

She Might Miss a Cracker
Last night I was addressing envelopes at the kitchen counter and had the certain feeling someone was staring at me. I turned around and, sure enough, that someone was Phoebe. She was so tired, but wouldn't go to sleep. She might miss watching me do something, you know. Like something that's relevant to her interests. Like eating a cracker or taking the cap off my pen.

What Goes on Behind the Laptop
Sometimes when I'm working, Phoebe sneaks behind my laptop and bats things around, and who knows what else. The other day I decided to turn the camera on her to see what in the world she was doing. This is the look she gave me. Message received.

Toddler Cat Flashback
Another flashback with my sweet Cosmo!
Cosmo occasionally likes to sit in my lap, like a toddler. He especially enjoys this position when I'm doing my "business" in the bathroom. Other times, he'll sit for awhile when I'm just chilling on the sofa.
Here's my view of him sitting toddler-style. Of course, it's always a treat to see his fuzzy little "panties."

Stinkeye Rewind
Taking the weekend off, so here's an old stinkeye post for ya!
Cosmo likes to be held like this -- really, believe me. In fact, he looked totally adorable and happy right before the shutter snapped. I just managed to catch him at the exact point his mood shifted. Of course it did ... because I wanted a "Happy Cosmo" pic.
This, my friends, is a fine example of the feline stink-eye.

My Cat Likes to Squeeze
Cats find that one little sun puddle, and then squeeze themselves inside it best they can. I've found my cats lying on top of squares of sun about the size of Post-it notes. They don't care -- they just want some part of their body to feel tropical ... or in the case of a black cat, like the surface of the sun.

The Craft of Biscuit-Making
After breakfast and dinner, Cosmo retires to the pink cat bed and proceeds to make some very serious biscuits. Last night Phoebe had already claimed the bed, so she got to be witness to his craft.

A Rare and Beautiful Sight
Yesterday I caught a rare sight: Saffy and Phobe sharing window space. I'm sure a few minutes later, little Pheebs has swatted sweet Saff right off the ledge. Ah, it was glorious for a moment.

Undercover Cat
Last weekend I took a midday nap, and Cosmo wiggled his way under the covers so he could press his fuzzy little body against mine. When I was ready to get out of bed, I lifted the covers to find this groggy face. He was not ready to end his nap. I sometimes wonder how long a cat would stay in a position like that if allowed. Oh, I know ... until he hears food-related activity in the kitchen. Then he's all, "Who are you? See ya!" Sigh.

Why My Cat Was Obsessed For Hours
Yesterday I was printing the manuscript for the 2015 whiskerslist boxed calendar. There were over 300 pages, so you can imagine how long it took my little inkjet to print everything. The entire time, Phoebe lay in her basket and watched the printer spit our nearly every page. Cats think printers are magic.

I Love it When My Cat Looks Like an Old-Time Hitchhiker
I have a thing for cat legs, especially when they dangle. I also enjoy happening upon a cute little kitty haunch sticking out from under something. I saw Phoebe do this the other day. It reminded me of those old-time female hitchhikers who show a little leg in hopes of landing a lift. Of course I had to touch Phoebe's leg ... how could I not? I'm only human.

Phoebe is an Annoying Little Sister
Phoebe loves my teenage son and daughter. She's like that annoying little sister who always wants to get into their room, but when she does, she knocks stuff over and walks all over their "important" stuff. I don't know why even she wants to go in their rooms -- they're messy, typical teen rooms, piled with clothes and all sorts of oddities. Hah, what am I thinking -- that's exactly why she loves their rooms so much! They do sometimes allow her into their lairs, and she is absolutely elated. She completely looks up to them like older siblings and it's adorable to watch my kids cuddle and baby talk to her.

My Nosy Cats and Their "Stuff"
My cats go crazy when we place down a newly-cleaned, freshly-filled water fountain. That is, after they gather around and watch us clean and fill it. And then they race to lap up the first drink. It's like when we clean the litter boxes: They gather 'round and watch, anxiously waiting to release upon the fresh litter.
They like fresh and clean ... also, I think they're super nosy when we're messing with their "stuff."

Revolt Around the Corner
I think I stumbled upon a secret meeting between Phoebe and Cosmo. They don't ever that closely facing one another. Look, Phoebe wouldn't even look at me. I'm sure some sort of revolt is right around the corner.

My Cat Thinks She's a Pan of Brownies
If cats can sit in it, they will sit in it. Phoebe was pretending to be a pan of brownies. Mmmm ... now I want brownies. I should probably wash the pan first.
