My Cat Welcomes Me Home With His Panties

When I come home from being away for a few hours, Cosmo likes to roll back and forth on the floor. It's his go-to "welcome home" gesture. I love seeing this little show because 1) I rarely get to see his belly and 2) PANTIES! The little white sploosh of fur in his lower belly areas looks like panties, no? That's what I call them, anyway. "Welcome home! Look at my panties!"

Da Bird = World Peace

The only toy that brings all three of my cats out is Da Bird, a simple wand toy with twirly feathers on the end. If you know my Cosmo, Saffy and Phoebe at all, you're familiar with the fact that you never see all three of them within six feet of each other. This toy brings everyone together.

Hey, Da Bird could be the answer to world peace. Just sayin'.

Who will get da birdie??

Cosmo take Da Bird down in a giant WHOMP of the mighty paws!

I Feel Judged by My Cat

Phoebe judges me for not separating my colors, darks and whites.
Like it's gonna affect her decision to jump in the basket, right?

My Cat Has a Strong Work Ethic

Last week I wasn't feeling well so I worked from the sofa. My assistant Phoebe refused to take the day off so she "worked" from the sofa as well. I don't care what the experts say, the work ethic of today's youth is just as strong as ever.

Poor Large Marge

I love Phoebe's smug face in this pic. Queen of the cat cave! As usual, Saffy's kicked to the curb. Poor Large Marge just can't catch a break.

My Cat Makes Me Want Eclairs

Suddenly I feel the need for some cream-filled thing that's at least 1872 calories.

Proof My Cats Shouldn't Clean

Last week I wrote a Catster post wherein I wished my cats could help me with practical tasks, like cleaning up around the house. Then I was perusing some of my favorite Alfred Mainzer postcards this weekend and immediately changed my mind. I'm pretty sure the "cleaning" would be less helpful and look more like this:

Yeah -- my cats don't need access to cleaning supplies; however, they absolutely must have access to sweater vests.

I Get Lap Dances at Work

I write from home and Phoebe and Cosmo take that as an opportunity to play an all-day game of "musical lap." They refuse to share the space, so when one thinks the other has enjoyed quite enough glorious lap time, he or she serves an eviction notice.

It looks something like the below photo. Cosmo's all, "You're time is up -- move along." Notice how Phoebe's completely ignoring him? "La, la, la, la."

Eventually the new cat wins out, but it will happen all over again in a couple of hours. Imagine my husband's face when I tell him about all the lap dances I had at work that day.

Taco-Cats in Space? Heck Yes!

I love wacky cat t-shirts, and own a few gems. Whilst traveling in Googleland, I happened upon this taco-cat shirt and it is now on my must-have list! Seriously, this shirt is full of all kinds of awesome. Who doesn't love tacos, for the love of Pete? And cats as tacos? I mean, c'mon! You need this shirt. Plus, "taco-cat" is "cat-taco" spelled backward. Kismet, for certain. You can buy it here. And there's free shipping -- score!

All Wigged Out Over Cat Costumes

I find that the subject of dressing up your cat is quite a controversial one. Some say their cats don't mind it -- and I've spent time with some that honestly don't look like it bothers them in the least. Others say it's not nice to make your cats wear Santa hats and Halloween costumes that look like tacos. What do I think? I'm so glad you asked!

I think it just depends on the cat. We humans should never force our cats to do something they obviously don't want to do. I admit to dolling up my cats from time to time. I've always had a thing about imagining cats doing "people" things and the thought of kitties wearing dresses, wigs and shoes cracks me up to no end. This is why I love vintage postcards -- specifically ones by Alfred Mainzer -- so much.

My cats have a few little pieces of clothing and I usually only place it on them for a photo. They seem to tolerate wigs best. One Halloween, Cosmo looked especially fetching in the orange wig. He kind of looks like Wendy, right? Suddenly I'm hungry for a cheeseburger.

He was patient and wore it for a little while. And then this happened:

I was totally cool with it -- he'd had enough, and I needed to stop thinking about cheeseburgers.

Do you dress your cat for Halloween or any other time? Will you dress your cat up this year? Need inspiration? Pet360 has some fun Halloween costume ideas (most are dog costumes, but they also work for a larger cat). I'm partial to the hammerhead shark costume.

Whatever you choose to do, keep your cat safe and happy, have fun ... and take lots of pictures!

My Cat Gets an A+ in Persistence

This photo is a big part of what my work day looks like. I write from home each day and Cosmo's "work" is begging for an invitation into my lap, and then jumping down -- rinse, repeat. And this goes on all day long. At least he's persistent. I'll have to mention that on his next performance review.

Cats Curse Our Drinking Devices

Having cats, we know they tend to be big tippers, right? It takes us humans a while to figure things out sometimes, but after a few liquid catastrophes, we know something has to happen. We're not about to stop drinking liquids, so instead we decide it might be a smart idea to use a cup or a bottle with a lid. Cats curse our lidded drinking devices, not only because they can no longer dip a paw inside or tip them over, but because they know we won that one.

Laser Cat Wants Your Food

Saffy is such a food poacher and is constantly looking for ways to jack Cosmo or Phoebe's food. After she's finished polishing off her own chow, she not-so-stealthily sits off and stares at the other cat who's still eating. I left the laser eyes in the pic because, well, the intensity is laser-level, for sure.
