Funny Pets Add Life!

If you read Catladyland, I know you like to laugh ... and you know I like to laugh too. After all, this blog's tagline is Cats are Funny. My cats send me into giggle fits every day! I laugh especially hard when one of my cats wanders into a cabinet or pantry and I happen upon him/her when I open the door. Cosmo does this all the time.

I recently found Phoebe in the pantry counting crackers. Silly kitties.

What would we do without our sweet companions? I never, ever take them for granted because I know there are equally as sweet and loving cats living in shelters. Shelters do the best they can with available funding, but they need constant funding to care for the animals in their care. Pets Add Life (PAL) is having a Help a Shelter Out contest. Until November 16, on their Facebook page you can vote on a shelter to win substantial cash awards. The shelter with the most votes wins $10,000, second place is $3,000 and third place will receive $2,000!

The shelter winners will be announced on November 19, which is also National Get a PAL for your Pet Day! It's a day dedicated to celebrating and emphasizing the benefits of sharing our lives with multiple pets.

For more information about the PAL campaign, please visit their Facebook page, follow them on Twitter, and check out their super-cute, funny videos!

Listen to the Guinea Pig!

Like humans, our pet friends like companionship. Don't believe me? Listen to the guinea pig! Seriously, the guy should be a comedian.

You can watch the other entertaining Pets Add Life videos here.  It's worth it -- they're a riot!

Many years ago, we shared our life with only one cat. We loved him dearly, but when once we expanded our animal family, his happiness expanded. It was visible!

Maybe you already have more than one critter running about in your home. There are still ways you can help the Pets Add Life mission of increasing responsible pet ownership and enhancing our bond with animals. You can make a pledge to:

Volunteer at a shelter
Adopt your next pet
Take a photo of a homeless pet and share it

I asked my cats why they like sharing their home with other cats and they seemed to be stuck on the whole box thing. What can I say? Boxes are a huge part of their lives!

Listen to the guinea pig, listen to my cats, make the pledge!

A Life Spent With Cats is Never Wasted

This morning I opened my eyes to one cat loafed on my belly, one hogging my pillow, and one trapping my feet under the covers. And guess what? I wouldn't have it any other way. I woke up smiling and even giggling a little bit. I'll tell ya, it's even better than the warm feeling you get waking from a spicy Johnny Depp dream. My cats are such a part of my life; I can't imagine a cat-less existence.

Seriously, I wouldn't know how to...

  • visit the loo alone.
  • walk down the steps without tripping on tails.
  • wear clothing that doesn't sport a layer of fur.
  • use the can opener (to open a can of soup for me) without summoning a herd of felines who think that every crunch of the can opener must result in something for for them.

See? I must have cats in order to live the lifestyle to which I've become accustomed. I know I'm preachin' to the choir here, but pets make life so much richer and keep us happier, healthier, and saner human beings! No one knows this better than a campaign called Pets Add Life (PAL). Their mission is to spread the word about responsible pet ownership and joys and benefits of sharing our lives with pets, thus increasing adoption. Pretty wonderful mission, huh? I thought you might agree.

Like humans, our animal companions enjoy friendship and interaction with others. This is why I chose to share my life with more than one cat. With three fuzzbutts, there's always someone with which to snuggle, chase, or play. And they have such different personalities, which means there's never a dull moment!

Saffy is 11 and has the sweetest demeanor. She's a total daddy's girl and loves to tease us with her exposed belly. I think she looks like a delicious, cream-filled eclair.

Cosmo is my handsome ten-year-old tuxie-boy. He looks cranky, but loves nothing more than to curl up under the covers with me an purr-drool all over the sheets. He's a dream.

Phoebe rules the roost. She just turned seven and tips the scale at a whoppin' six pounds. She's feisty, mouthy, and usually gets what she wants, mostly because she's so stinking cute.

So you can see I'm a believer in PAL's initiative and am excited to help them bring their message to the masses. I know I wouldn't be the person I am today (and you wouldn't have this blog to read) if not for the presence of my feline family. And in a world where sometimes we'd rather claim our animal family over our human one, we are blessed beyond compare. I mean, really...is your cat going to drink too much at Thanksgiving and toss around old grievances? Will your cat judge your choice in romantic partner? How many times does your cat make you feel guilty about not attending Crazy Aunt Martha's 7th wedding? In a word, NEVER.

At this point, you are probably thinking, "I'm totally on board with this mission! PAL rocks! How can I help this campaign?" Good thing you came to visit today because I have some answers for you.

And stay tuned for some fun PAL videos supporting the joy and benefits of a life spent with pets! Now a question for you: How do your animal companions make your life richer?
