Flashback Friday: Destined for Cat Blogginess

I was born a catgirl. I was always the one who found the wayward kitty and brought him home, hoping to convince my mother that we were his only hope. Even when I went away to college and didn't have a cat of my own, I found them. I loved on other people's cats and chased down wandering neighborhood kitties because I craved cat cuddles. I was destined to be a cat blogger...

College, 1988...wandering neighborhood kitty is catnapped for mandatory snuggling

You WILL love me!!  And I will grow up to write silly things about your brethren...
With my love of cats and words (and cool 80's hair), my destiny was sealed!  Now get over here for your mandatory snuggle!!

  2. LOL! Great flashback!

When I was growing up, cats were barn cats and mostly went unnoticed, though when I was older we did adopt one. It wasn't until my divorce in my late 30s and my first cat adoptee, Chumley, that I became a middle-aged cat lady. :-D

  4. Oh I loved this blog! I love the caption coming form the cat. I know some of them must be saying that when we swoop down and love on them, whether they like it or not. BIG smile here!!

  8. How come the kitty does not have '80s hair? My human's cat in the '80s totally had big, floofy '80s hair!

My human actually intended to be a hugely famous author, not my assistant.

  12. Yay, lifelong cat lover! I don't have any photos from my cat-loving escapades, alas. I'll never forget the night my roommates and I came home from the movies and found a kitten shivering and crying under a car in my dorm parking lot, trying his best to hide from the nasty, sleeting winter weather. My roommates and I snuck him up to our room, where we dried him off and did our best to feed him and love him.

Then our RA found out and told us we had to get rid of the cat because animals weren't allowed. I was just about to leave for class when the RA issued the ultimatum, and my roommates said they'd take him to the SPCA. When I came back several hours later, the kitten was gone. A couple of days later, they told me that when they called the SPCA, they said they couldn't take any more cats, so they left him outside (in the damp, chilly winter weather) in the university president's yard. I just about throttled them, and for the first time in my life I actually screamed at someone.

By that point it was too late to look for the little guy, so I just prayed that he was OK, and that if he did end up dying it happened quickly.

But I have lots of other happy rescue stories, though.
