What a Crock!

Why enjoy a cozy cardboard box when you can nestle inside a cold, metal Crock-Pot? Typical cat logic never fails to amuse.

I Can't Believe I Forgot!!

January 9th marked the Catladyland blog's two-year anniversary.  My grand (well, maybe not-so-grand) plan was to re-post my very first blog entry on that day.  If a calendar is anywhere within eyesight, you'll notice today is the 11th.  Is it tacky to write a retro-celebration blog post?  Well, why start being un-tacky now, right?

Here it is, Catladyland's (then Eclectic Catladyland's) very first post:

Listen Up!

Sometimes it seems to me that the art of good listening is lying limp and lifeless, gasping for air. Are people's brains so disengaged these days that they can't really focus their full attention on what others are saying? For example, more times than not, when I go to a coffee shop and ask for a plain black coffee - no cream, the barista asks, "Do you want room for cream?" Is she bewildered by my shockingly simple order or is she mentally Twittering instead of tuning in? This annoying scenario has driven me to the point of curtly countering with, "No - I said black." *insert laser death gaze here* I'm now one step closer to "crotchety old woman" status - thanks, Starbucks.

You know who's a good listener? A cat. The TV can be blaring, people engaged in lively conversation, neighbors shooting off fireworks, and my cats can hear the sound of a can opener piercing aluminum. These felines could be passed out, comatose under multiple layers of blankets and their eyes snap open when they hear the word "treat" merely muttered in general conversation. I think this keen auditory ability makes a cat the ideal candidate for barista. Why not? Unlimited access to caffeine makes it the perfect job for a creature who is constantly tired and who would look cuter in that little green apron? These super-hearing, caffeine-infused, cuddly critters would be the model of customer service. She'd hear your coffee order as you discussed it with your friend on the walk from the car to the coffee shop. The purring paws of lightening would quickly prepare the beverage and then slide it to you, old west bartender-style as you approached the counter. You'd look up to thank her and she's simply nod and wink, moving on to the next satisfied customer.

Beware humans - as your listening skills weaken and good customer service nears extinction, there's an army of Calico, Tabby and Siamese waiting in the wings, ready to swoop in and whip up a mad Venti Latte.

On another note, the photo cupboard for my other blog, Katt Food, is running bare.  I would LOVE you to e-mail me a photo of your cat.  There's only one requirement: there needs to be some sort of food theme in the photo.  It doesn't mean your kitty needs to be posing with actual food (although that's ok too) -- she can be curled up in a bowl or a bread basket, playing in a soda box, or perched on top of the refrigerator.  Check out Katt Food for some great examples.  If your photo is published, I will provide a link to your blog -- plus, a link to the post will appear on Catladyland's Facebook and Twitter pages.  Please e-mail me your photos, along with your cat's name to kattfoodangie@hotmail.com.  Thank You!!

Feeling Crusty?

Sometimes I feel hungry and pizza is the only food that will satisfy my appetite.  If I call the local delivery place, they ask me what type of crust I'd like on my pie.  This is the part where I feel confused; I think there are tasty aspects of all three kinds of crusts!

I like the crunchiness of thin crust.  Plus, you can eat more of it before feeling full. Lickity split!
Hand-tossed is a great in-between choice -- not too much bread and the consistency is usually pretty soft and chewy.  I do admit that sometimes after I eat hand-tossed, I feel a bit cranky and want something more...
Enter: deep-dish.  When I am super-hungry and want a substantial meal, only a deep-dish does the trick.  This hearty crust leaves me with some serious lick-your-lips satisfaction!
Hungry now?  Go ahead...pick up the phone and order from my favorite pizza place: 1-800-PZA-KATT.  I promise you won't be disappointed!

Who's Hungry?

Some of you may know that I recently launched another blog: Katt Food.  After realizing I giggle uncontrollably when posing my cats as food items and then posting pictures of them, I realized I really must continue to feed the urge in a heartier way.  In short, I craved more Katt Food and so cooked up a blog of the same name.

I began posting pictures of my own three cats and invited others to post their pictures to the Katt Food Facebook page or e-mail them to me to post on the blog.  The response has been pretty tasty and I'm ready to kick it up a notch.  For this, I need your help!  Here are the ways you can support Katt Food and help me build a more succulent readership:

  • Submit original pictures of your cat(s) posing as or with food.  When I post this to the blog, I will provide credit to you and a link back to your blog (if you have one)!

  • Post a link to Katt Food on your blog (if you have one) and encourage your readers to stop by for a delicious morsel!

It's that easy!  One of the things I love best blogging is the fabulous community we create.  I have found this especially true in the pet blogging community.  It's so great that we support and encourage the success of our fellow bloggers. Thank you in advance for your assistance in dishing up some Katt Food!

A Titch on the Crazy Side

I'm officially, certifiably, unequivocally insane.  Seriously.  Really.  For suresies.  Some of you know that within the past week I decided to create another blog:  Katt Food.  Basically, it's a hilarious assortment of photos readers submit of their cats (katts) posing as or with food.  I am having a freezer-ful of fun with it, but wow...didn't realize how busy all of this would keep me!  Now my daily maintenance includes two blogs, two Facebook pages, two Twitter accounts, one website, and two e-mail accounts.  Oh, and then there's my personal Facebook page and e-mail (gotta have my Scrabblez).

It's all good!  It's fun!  It's a hoot and a half! But I must say that my brain is busy trying to organize everything into lists, schedules, and categories.  This is nothing new....my brain does this all the time.  Control issues?  Maaaaaybe.  I think my brain is just figuring out that it needs to step up its game and start running with the big dogs....um, cats...um, katts.  Until then, I feel just a titch on the crazy side...kind of like this:

So please forgive me if I forget little things, mistakenly feed the cats macaroni and cheese, disappear from a Word Twist game for a day, or begin posing my children in roasting pans.  I promise...I'll be back to normal soon.  Normal?  Did I really type that??
